Earlier this year the group won the rights for a premium hotel development in Shanghai, which was its first exposure to Mainland China. This will open in mid-2008. Jumeirah Group also set up regional operations to oversee the Asia-Pacific region.
Gerald Lawless, Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah Group, comments: “We are very pleased to have been appointed by TGR Group — Asia to manage what promises to be one of the most exclusive private island resorts in the Asia Pacific.”
